Simple 1940’s wartime inspired sewing pattern includes templates and instructions to make a floppy peaked ‘baker’ style cap with a pieced top, and a soft beret hat trimmed with a self-fabric rose.
Size: Hats to fit a medium sized head (22”/56cm) with instructions on how to vary the sizing.
Suggested fabrics: For the cap, soft draping tweed/wool in contrasting colours. For the beret, soft boiled wool or polar fleece. Dress weight lining for both styles.
For the Baker Girl Cap, you will need:
¼ yd (25cm) of 36” (92cm) or 45” (115cm) wide contrast fabric for two of the top quarters and one peak section
½ yd (50cm) of 36” (92cm) or 45” (115cm) wide main fabric for two of the top quarters, cap underside and one peak section
½ yd (50cm) of 36” (92cm) wide lining fabric for cap lining
¼ yd (25cm) of heavy iron-on interfacing for the peak
¾ yd (70cm) of 1” (25mm) wide grosgrain ribbon for the interior cap band
Optional vintage button trim for top of cap
For the Rosy Beret, you will need:
½ yd (50cm) of 36” (92cm) or 45” (115cm) wide lining fabric to line the beret
¾ yd (70cm) of 1” (25mm) wide grosgrain ribbon for the interior beret band
